What is the impact of population on our country?

The increasing populations of Pakistan build constant pressure on the already insufficient resource of the country such as:

  • Food

  • Safe Drinking water

  • Housing and utilities

  • Education

  • Transport

  • Agriculture

  • Employment

  • Law and order

How to control population?

By taking following steps the population may be controlled.

 

  • To discouraged child marriage by Implementation of “The Child Marriage Restraint Act 1929”

  • By increasing education and employment opportunities for females

  • Increase contraceptive prevalence rate by providing FP service.

  • Reducing traditional myths by spreading awareness of reproductive health and family planning.

Why to control population?

Pakistan is a development country it’s Social and economical resources are limited and over burdened by Rapid population growth. Therefore checking increasing population growth rate is necessary to eradicate poverty, hunger, malnutrition, ensure health care, education and other services.

Where to go for Family Planning services?

You can go any private / public health care facilities for family planning services as they all are bound to provide FP services. However, one can approach the following family planning services delivery points of population welfare department throughout Sindh

Reproductive Health Center (RHS-A Centre)

    • Mobile Service Unit (MSU)

    • Family Welfare Center (FWC)

All above services delivery points are situated in DHQs, THQs, BHUs and in private buildings.

What is planning and contraception?

Family planning is to decide the number of children a person wishes to have including the choice to have no children and the age and the age time of which they wish to have them.

  • Contraceptive means the use of any medicines, devices or surgery to prevent pregnancy.

What are different method of Family Planning?
  • Condom
  • Oral contraceptive Pills

  • Injections

  • IUCD

  • Implants

  • Contraceptive surgery for male and female.

Who Should use Family Planning methods?

Any couple who thinks that they should need space to the next pregnancy and child birth or who thinks the family is complete and do not need further children.

Are Family Planning service free?

Yes all Family Planning services are free of cost for everyone Government dispensaries and hospital. Family Planning commodities are free at Private Clinics and Hospitals as well however, they can charge service fee from clients.

Is pregnancy possible after using Family Planning methods?

Yes, it is possible to get pregnant by discounting temporary methods of Family Planning. However, pregnancy is not possible once FP surgery is performed.

What are temporary method of Family Planning?

All methods are temporary method except surgery

What are RHS-A centres and where are they located?

These are reproductive Health Services Centre of PWDS located at DHQ and THQ hospitals throughout Sindh. These RHS A Centre provide full range of family planning methods / contraception including Contraceptive Surgeries as well as other Reproductive health services

What are Other reproductive Services available at RHS A Centre?
  • Counselling and follow-up FP Methord. Mother and child health services.
  • Antenatal and postnatal services

  • Prevention and management of RTIs / STDs

  • Reproductive health issues of adolescent boys and girls

  • Management of other Reproductive Health issues of man and women such as infertility

  • Early detection of breast and cervical cancer

  • Other Reproductive health issues

What are Mobile Service Units and their responsibilities?

Mobile Service Units provide Family Planning and Reproductive Health services at the doorstep to unrserved communities in the rural areas. They are located in base of geographic conditions and catchments area in terms of Union Councils, Villages and Communities.

What are FWC and where they are located?

Family Welfare Centres are the most common Family Planning and reproductive services at the doorstep to unnerved communities in the rural areas. They are located on the basis of geographic conditions and catchments area in terms of Union Councils Villages and Communities

What services are available at Family Welfare Centre (FWC)?
  • Family Planning methods excluding contraceptive surgeries MCH services.

  • Advocacy , Motivation, Counseling for FP, birth Spacing and Mother and Child Health

  • Mother and Child Health Services

  • General Health Services for FP clients as well.
